Full Tilt Poker launches new “Durrrr Challenge” Info page

Posted under Poker & internet poker & online poker room & poker celebrities & poker rooms & poker tournament

FullTilt.com has recently launched a new info site containing all the details of the “Durrrr Challenge”, an incredible online heads up tournament presenting some of the most talented high stakes online players taking on the online poker phenom Tom “durrrr” Dwan.

The innovative new site presents online poker players and fans the chance to track this amazing durrrr challenge and receive regular updates. With this innovative “durrrr Challenge” portal players can track all the poker action and check out each hand played during this poker challenge, and check out lots of stats, including number of hands played, time of session, amount won, average won during each hand and much more.

Around six months ago, the twenty-three year old online poker pro issued a heads-up challenge for any player with the money, time and talent to accept it. Any poker player entering the poker challenge has to wager $500,000 against Tom’s $1.5 million. Tom’s challenge specifies that a minimum 50,000 hands need to be played at the same time at four or more poker tables of no-limit Hold’em or pot-limit Omaha. At the end of the durrrr challenge, the player who has more money will win the pool. Essentially if you enter the Full Tilt Durrrr Challenge and win a dollar after the 50,000 hands, then you will secure durrrr’s $1.5 Million, but if he wins by a dollar then he will win your $500,000.

To date, a few poker players have accepted to play the “durrrr challenge”, including WSOP Champ Phil Ivey and David Benyamine, however, only Patrick Antonius has consented to the Full Tilt Poker Challenge. Until now, both poker pros have taken part in a total of 20,647 poker hands out of 50,000, with Dwan ahead $726,546 total.

For more information on the “durrrr” Challenge and durrrr vs. Antonius, please go to http://www.fulltiltpoker.com/durrrr-vs-antonius

Some Advice for tricking your Texas Hold Em competition

Posted under poker tournament & professional poker & texas holdem

poker
An important facet in poker tournaments is tricking your opponents by leading them to believe you have a superb poker hand, when in reality you could possibly you have a terrible hand. You may have heard this referred to as “Poker face”, an expressionless face to mislead your opponents into trusting in an idea that may not be true.

If you happen to have a good poker hand it is most likely going to make you feel nervous, could possibly make your hands shake, and your pulse rise. These are signs that your competitors may pick up on very quickly, especially if they are good friends of yours. Try not to glance at the pot if you have some good poker cards in your hands. This is an obvious gesture for your competition that you are, in your mind, adding up what you might win.

In the situation where you have a horrible poker hand, try not to keep yourself from glancing at your poker buddies, keep your eyes up, and don’t hesitate when you place your bet. When you can prove to yourself that your poker hand is equal, or better than your competition; you will possibly fool them into believing this as well. Keep in mind to make this seem as natural as possible. Your signals and actions may be saying one thing, while what you are saying are giving them a whole different idea.

Another significant aspect of Texas Hold Em is to be able to read your opponents “poker tells”. A “tell” is a gesture or habit that may give away information about their hand. One important aspect to keep in mind is when your competitor is acting as though he has a strong hand; he, very likely, has a poor hand. On the contrary, if he is acting as if he’s holding a weak hand, he probably has a pretty decent hand.

Launch Latin American Poker Tour

Posted under Poker & poker games & poker rooms & poker stars & poker tournament

It’s been a weird and long year for the world of poker including online poker, the year started out with nothing but bad news as many people worried about the future of the online poker industry after the UIGEA. With he processing companies not dealing with American customers have raised many questions about how exactly people would be getting money online now, and what it would do to the online poker industry.
And after everything that has happened in 2007, PokerStars broke an online poker traffic record yesterday, becoming the first online poker site to reach 20,000 simultaneous real money ring game players. According to the site, Party Poker record was 16,960 players in 2006, right before they quit taking action from U.S players.

When you consider all of the scandals of the past 12 months that have tarnished online poker’s reputation, this number is all the more impressive. You had Absolute Poker, “TheV0id”, more cheating scandals and a dud of a 2007 WSOP Champion, and Poker Stars was still able to set a traffic record in the same year that all of this happened? That speaks volumes about the resiliency and rock-solid strength of the online poker industry.

The UIGEA benefited not only PokerStars expansion but the entire market seems to be growing outside the U.S. The industry moved forward and adapted, with Pokerstars leading the charge. I mean, I remember in early 2007 reading some of the blogs of the biggest online poker players, and some of them were talking about quitting online poker and going back to school because it was nearly impossible to get money online. Times have changed. If you want to get money online now, you can.

The future of online poker still uncertain and it is had to imagine that we will have to deal with anything close to the amount of bad news that we had in ‘07. But no matter what happens, the online poker industry will continue to adapt and thrive, and there is nothing that anyone in Washington can do about that.

By focusing on fixing all of the poker free roll tournaments that are being hosted through the use of poker listings or keeping up with your favorite poker information websites, the serious player can make sure that they never miss a game and that they are consistently earning on the web without having to break the bank on buy ins. These types of freeroll poker tournaments are extraordinarily popular as a method of promoting online poker rooms, along with other types of online poker promotions such as the rakeback sharing affiliate program and the poker bonus deposit matching program. When comparing all of these different types of bonus programs, it is interesting to note that none are as popular as the rakeback sharing program, but very few are as lucrative as the poker free roll tournaments that are in existence all over the Internet for players to make use of.

Las Vegas Popularity As Poker Tournament Capital Begins to Wane

Posted under Poker & poker games & poker las vegas & poker tournament & professional poker & texas holdem

Over the years, the competition from different types of overseas casinos and poker rooms has begun to put a dent into the profits that are generated in the Las Vegas area as they effectively siphon off more and more tourist dollars from the gambling capital. With this increased level of competition, the ubiquitous Texas Hold’em poker tournaments and other types of poker tournaments that are held in Las Vegas have begun to see less and less attention from the media and from gamers and gamblers in general. With this tendency to gravitate towards the newer and suddenly more popular poker rooms and casinos in recent years in overseas locations, Las Vegas and has seen a reduction in the type of income that it has come to depend upon in the past from incoming travelers and the tourist dollars that they bring with them to spend in the Las Vegas area, due largely to this heightened level of competition from around the world. With this reduction in income to the Las Vegas area, it is critical for local establishment proprietors to seek out new methods of generating this type of revenue and keep players coming into the Las Vegas hotels and casinos that are so dependent on this type of incoming tourist dollars.

As the popularity of Las Vegas as the Texas Hold’em poker tournament capital begins to diminish, areas around the world that are famous for entering into the poker tournament market in recent years begin to see more and more popularity with players from around the world who are more than happy to compete at these types of poker tournaments. As more and more tournaments are held in these overseas locations, there is less emphasis on the traditional Las Vegas area as the progenitor of these types of tournaments and more emphasis on cheaper, easier locations around the world that are oriented towards attracting this type of traffic. With all of the popularity of the Texas Hold’em poker tournament in recent years, it is not surprising to see so many competing areas around the world try to jump on the bandwagon and make the most of the revenue that is generated by these types of events. Taking back the title of Texas Hold’em poker tournament capital of the world is critical to Las Vegas in order to remain competitive with these Johnny-come-lately areas from around the world who have effectively begun to compete for the Las Vegas crown of gambling capital.
