FullTiltPoker.com Receives Dwan with Official “durrrr” Prosite

Posted under Poker & internet poker & poker celebrities

As WedoitallVegas posted here over the weekend, it has recently been made public that Dwan has officially signed with Full Tilt Poker. The online poker website has given the poker professional a warm welcome with an Official “durrrr” Prosite featuring a welcome video and other interesting tidbits from the career of Tom Dwan.

One of the most interesting areas of the Official Website is the welcome video from Team Full Tilt Poker poker players Howard Lederer, Andy Bloch, Jennifer Harman and a few others. The ”durrrr” video on FullTiltPoker.com also features an appearance from the legendary online poker player, ”durrrr”.

”durrrr” has been keeping himself very busy as of late with a new Tom Dwan blog, which will actually be posted from experiences of Tom Dwan himself. And let’s not forget the durrrr Challenge which is on its 27,185th poker hand out of the projected 50,000 total poker hands.

Full Tilt Poker launches new “Durrrr Challenge” Info page

Posted under Poker & internet poker & online poker room & poker celebrities & poker rooms & poker tournament

FullTilt.com has recently launched a new info site containing all the details of the “Durrrr Challenge”, an incredible online heads up tournament presenting some of the most talented high stakes online players taking on the online poker phenom Tom “durrrr” Dwan.

The innovative new site presents online poker players and fans the chance to track this amazing durrrr challenge and receive regular updates. With this innovative “durrrr Challenge” portal players can track all the poker action and check out each hand played during this poker challenge, and check out lots of stats, including number of hands played, time of session, amount won, average won during each hand and much more.

Around six months ago, the twenty-three year old online poker pro issued a heads-up challenge for any player with the money, time and talent to accept it. Any poker player entering the poker challenge has to wager $500,000 against Tom’s $1.5 million. Tom’s challenge specifies that a minimum 50,000 hands need to be played at the same time at four or more poker tables of no-limit Hold’em or pot-limit Omaha. At the end of the durrrr challenge, the player who has more money will win the pool. Essentially if you enter the Full Tilt Durrrr Challenge and win a dollar after the 50,000 hands, then you will secure durrrr’s $1.5 Million, but if he wins by a dollar then he will win your $500,000.

To date, a few poker players have accepted to play the “durrrr challenge”, including WSOP Champ Phil Ivey and David Benyamine, however, only Patrick Antonius has consented to the Full Tilt Poker Challenge. Until now, both poker pros have taken part in a total of 20,647 poker hands out of 50,000, with Dwan ahead $726,546 total.

Actors and Celebrity Poker Players Fight for New Poker Laws

Posted under Poker & internet poker & poker celebrities & poker stars

Shortly after the beginning of last week’s charity poker event to help the Paralyzed Veterans of America, Ben Affleck goes all-in with a flop of Ace-Nine-King and two diamonds. He cringes when two of his opponents call the bet. He yells “Re-buy”, but the turn is a seven of hearts. Affleck is upset when a jack of diamonds is dealt on the river. He took the hand seriously even though there was no actual cash at stake. This is just the kind of thing that Affleck and several other internet poker enthusiasts are lobbying for.

Over $100,000 was raised for the paralyzed victims, but this was not the only function of the celebrity poker game held in Coors Field. Members of the Poker Players Alliance are working very hard to legalize online poker in the United States. As part of their agenda, they are pushing to repeal the 2006 legislation Congress passed which forbids U.S. Banks and credit card companies from processing transactions related to online gambling websites.

John Pappas, executive director of the Poker Players Alliance, is optimistic about the direction that the new congress will lead this decision. Pappas says that the alliance is pushing for a licensed industry, just for internet poker, and not for all internet gambling. Pappas is interested in having a safe, regulated industry that all Americans can enjoy. The group is fighting for the rights of people and the privacy they deserve in their own home.

“There are misconceptions about poker and about internet poker,” poker pro Andy Bloch said in between hands during the charity celebrity poker event. “Some people think that online gambling is gambling like a slot machine, and it’s not.”
